We did it

Wow what a race
The views, the weather and the experience of running in another state was amazing!

The course was almost what they advertised.
The first 9 miles were not bad and we even had a 10 minute pace.
Then the last 3 miles were a killer.
We ran on rocks and sand
I knew I had a blouder in my shoe
funny it was just little pieces of rock

I'll post pictures I took during the race soon!

Finishing time

8 more days...

...until the 6 Tunnels to Hoover Dam race.

This will be my second half marathon and Mr. C's first.
I'm really excited for the change in location and scenery

I have slacked off on my training this past week.
I hope that doesn't bite me next Saturday.

My main goal is to run the WHOLE thing and have a better time than my first half.

I did it

I ran a half marathon (13.1 miles) Sunday. I still can't belive I did it.
Me before the race

Me after the race

Now on to the next challenge.

6 days and counting

I ran 8 miles of the half marathon course yesturday. Wow, I'm still wondering "WHAT WAS I THINKING"!
It did help seeing and feeling where the hills are so I know where I will need an energy boost. My DH rode his bike and kept me entertained so I wouldn't just stop. He is a very good coach.
The course took us by a Char Grill (awesome hamburgers and milkshakes) so my DH, knowing how to motivate me, said if I finished we could go there for lunch! YES!

I got a hamburger but I'm saving the chocloate milkshake for finishing the real thing. Nothing like good food as a motivation.

9 days until the race

I'm getting nervous. I'm starting to wonder WHAT was I thinking, 13.1 miles on foot! Whenever I'm driving I check to see how far 13.1 miles is to add a little perspective. It equals me running to work or 6 round trips to the grocery store. CRAZY when I look at it that way.

I have the directions for the course and plan to traverse (run, walk, crawl) at least half of it this weekend. I figure this way I'll know where to tell DH to park the car so I can make a fast get away!
